If you get a deb of qtubuntu-print from silo 2236. https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-service/+archive/ubuntu/2236/+packages

Install that and install the package "kate" from the archives.

Then ensure that you have a printer added in cups (from the unity7 system settings)

If you launch kate normally with the following command, and select File->Print you should see the cups printer in the list

$ kate

If you relaunch kate with the following command, and select File->Print, you should instead see "Printing service" as an option

$ QT_PRINTER_MODULE=qtubuntu-print kate
