1. Ensure libpam-cgm is installed
2. Log out of the Unity 7 session
3. Go to tty1 and 'sudo service cmanager status --debug'
4. Log into the Unity 8 session
5. show (cat?) the /proc/self/cgroup output for the task (upstart?) that does the failed firing off of apps.
